Ram Store: Inside the fancy mall is the Ram Store, which is a very Western-style grocery store. Sooooper expensive but so clean and full of all kinds of products.

Magazines and Newspapers: This is where people buy their magazines and newspapers.
Bread shop: This is right near the guest house. A really nice woman and older man work here, and I am hoping to buy bread from them enough that they recognize me and we can be pals...as much as we can when we can't speak to each other beyond yes, no, hi, bye. :)
Bread oven: If you read my earlier post about how they make leepyairshka, then here is the promised photo of the bread oven. The nice woman at the bread place near the guest house let me come right into her place and take this photo.

Market 1: This is a good market not far from where I stay. When I triumphantly bought produce for the first time, it was here. People were very nice to me and creative in communicating prices and amounts.

Market 2: I asked a woman if I could take a picture of her goods using my very limited Russian--"May I photo?"--and she was really gracious, gesturing toward the goods and smiling.
National drink: This guy advertising the drink is everywhere!!!! People sit on the corners with big thermal coolers (like the kind we pour over coaches at the end of football games) filled with this and little disposable cups. I had a sip of Idai's when we went to Durdoy. It's an aquired taste.

Hey, my mama likes rocks too! I had no idea we had that in common.
I love reading your blog Rebecca. I'm a sucker for details and you've got a lot of them!
It's great to see your smiling face and hearing all your amazing experiences.
Have you come across anything Fancy to tell us about?
Love ya! Risa
Rebecca,
I love my rock!!!But not as much as I love my little girl. Thanks for the picture. You look just like I remembered you...OK, it has not been that long, but it seems like it. But when all is said and done, I am so glad you have this opportunity to see new places, and learn new things. Continue to serve God in all you do.
LA&F,
Mama
Love your picture of the "national drink" posters. Ukraine has a soda that's made from wheat. I can completely relate to the "acquired taste" thing. Miss you tons!!
Love!
Hilary
Risa, no way! So cool that both our moms like rocks. Hey, do you want me to bring a rock from Kyrgyzstan for your mom, too?
Hilary, that is hilarious! This drink is a wheat drink, too! Very very sour....whew!
