Spa Treatment

I was sick, sick on Tuesday and stayed in the room all day drinking water. It wasn't the worst day in history, since I got to have a nice, long phone conversation with mama and since I wasn't missing school or work. Still, it was too bad to miss the sunshine and fun.

Yesterday (Wednesday) was as wonderful as Tuesday was yucky. I had a fancy-schmancy spa treatment at the sister hotel of the one where we're staying. We're staying at the original property, Mom Tri's Boathouse, and the new property, Mom Tri's Royal Villa is just 300 yards up the street on a cliff overlooking the ocean, whereas our hotel is directly on the beach. This hotel is a much better choice for us b/c we like to spend most of a day lying on the beach, but Mom Tri's Royal Villa is slightly fancier and has a full treatment spa onsite. Since it's low season and we're staying at the sister hotel, we get 20% off spa treatments there. Anyway, here's a description of my wonderful afternoon there.

First, when I got there, they gave me a glass of iced tea made from panenat leaves. It was delicious. Then they led me past a little pool, through a small private massage room with a steam room, and into a tiny shower room with orchids on the sink and thick white towels. I had to shower off and dress in a sarong.

After the shower, I sat in a private steam room for about 10 minutes. They'd put Thai herbs in the steam, and the room smelled like lemongrass. It was hot, hot, of course, but so relaxing. After the steam, they had me sit by a pool and drink some water awhile. Then they had me sit in the pool. It was cool, and there was a jet at my back. Very nice.

After the pool, it was back to the steam room for another 10 minutes and then time to shower again. After the shower, they had me lie on a massage table covered with a thick quilt that reached the floor and then thin clear plastic. I lay first on my stomach and then my back, and the woman applied a body treatment made of tamarind, yogurt, honey, white mud, and sesame oil. It smelled yummy. Then she wrapped the plastic tightly around me and then the quilt. It was nice and warm, and I felt so great. I lay like that for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, she came back and unwrapped me and led me to a milk bath on a private deck outdoors. The water was covered with floating orchids, honeysuckle flowers, and rose petals. She gave me a scrubber to remove the body treatment. It was a rectangular pouch of roughly woven unbleached cotton filled with dried lavender. It smelled so good. So I scrubbed and sat in the milk bath a while.

After the milk bath, she led me back to the massage room where I got a one-hour aromatherapy massage with coconut oil. She used some eucalypus-smelling stuff on my temples and sprayed rosewater in my hair. It was amazing. After the massage, it was back to the shower room to dress and then out to a little table by the pool. They had tiny fruit skewers and hot tea for me to sit and eat.

After enjoying the snack, I walked around the grounds and took photos. Enjoy below!

What a life you lead!!! And no one deserves it more. You 2 work very hard, and this break sounds like just the thing to get you rested up.
How long did that spa treatment take? It sounds like it may have taken all morning. Where was Tony during all this royal treatment?
Love the pictures...keep them coming.
Love you 2 more, MAMA

Wow! It sounds like this trip is really taking it out of you. Haha! I'm glad you two are having a good time--minus the tummy issues. Love you both!

Yes, it sounds rough, doesn't it? We are having a great time here and are terribly spoiled and pampered. We keep asking each other if you guys would enjoy it and what all you would do. Tony and I can definitely see all of us girls having a great spa day together. :)

Oops, I also meant to say the whole treatment was a little over 3 hours. I did it during the afternoon, while Tony lay on the beach and snoozed in the room.
